*THE AUSTRALASIAN WOMEN'S GROUP DONATION


The Australasian Women\'s Group a sub division of The Australian Association presented a cheque for BD130 to The Palm Association for their Feed a Family Programme. The donation was collected from coffee mornings and a Ghabgha during Ramadan. Thank you to a wonderful group of ladies and for making us so welcome at your coffee morning.

*NADIA SWAN CLIMBS MT. KILIMANJARO



Nadia Swan, longterm Palm Association member now living in Dubai, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro - Africa\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s highest mountain in June this year, raising an astonishing BD6,500 for The Palm Association.

Nadia reached Uhuru Point on the summit of Tanzania\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Mt Kilimanjaro having taken the Rongai route which takes five days from the Kenyan-Tanzanian side of the highest single standing mountain in the world. She went through five ecological types of zones from meadow, forest, moorland, desert and glaciers.

What an achievement!

*THE AWALI HOSPITALITY LADIES GROUP
A huge thank you to the Awali Hospitality Ladies group for their recent BD1000 donation. This donation will be used in our Feed a Family programme and will enable us to provide 6 families with monthly food boxes for a whole year.

*CHILDREN OF NADEEN SCHOOL OF BAHRAIN The children in this photo are from the Nadeen International School. They went on a Charity Walk and raised enough money to send one Bahraini student to university and enough to complete their entire course.

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The desire to give something back to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the country in which they were made so welcome was the momentum behind the birth of The Palm Association, in November 2000. The brainchild of two long term resident expatriate ladies, The Palm Association has grown from humble beginnings to a well respected, proactive organisation, run by women, with a sole purpose to provide help and assistance to local families and individuals in the greatest need. We are both proud and grateful to announce that since our launch we have raised over BD 315,000 as of October 2008.. Read more>>

جاءت فكرة تأسيس جمعية النخيل في نوفمبر 2000 من قبل سيددتان أجنبيتان عاشتا لفترة طويلة في مملكة البحرين. والهدف الرئيسي وراء هذه الفكرة هوالرغبة منهما لرد الجميل لهذه المملكة البلد الذي احتضنهما بوساعة صدر. وتطورت الجمعية من بدايات متواضعة الى مؤسسة ناشطة تدار من قبل سيدات لا يطمحن الا لخدمة المجتمع البحريني ومساعدة الأسر البحرينية المحتاجة. ونحن نفخر بأننا ومنذ تدشين الجمعية استطعذا أن نجمع أكثر من 315,000 حتى سبتمبر 2008

IN THE NEWS: *ICAP Haematology Room Children in Salmaniya Hospital's haematology ward now have a clean and cheery room to play while undergoing treatment for various illnesses. Featured in Bahrain's Gulf WeeklyVolume 8  Issue 17 , April 29, May 5, 2009

ICAP approached us and said they had a substantial amount of money and wanted a special project. They loved the idea of refurbishing the room," explained Palm Association member, Eibhlin Crosse.

The company raised the money by donating all profits and staff salaries of one working day.

The room will give children with blood disorders who come to the hospital for monthly blood transfusions somewhere to relax, work on computers, watch movies and catch up on school work.
